Coupon clipping is easier when it's a game

When I have trouble getting excited about coupons, which is often, I turn it into a game. Especially when it's a savings so small you'll need a magnifying glass, such as a 20-cents-off coupon, I play the “percentage game.”

It’s a mind game, really. I just think of that coupon savings as a 20 percent “investment return” on a dollar.

Likewise, if I save 20 dollars on my entire grocery bill using coupons, it’s like a 20 percent “investment return” on $100.

A 20 percent return is starting to look like a pretty good return at my house! So what are your favorite coupon tricks? Please click comments to share!

When I use coupons I come home and take the total amount I saved and put it aside and my husband & I use that money to take a trip to see our son or buy something that we want.  We do the same thing if we play the lottery and we win a couple of dollars here and there.  You would be surprised at how those little things add up.

That’s a great idea! Sort of keeps you motivated…the reward system!
