Strawberry-Feta Side Salad

The amount of veggies you need to consume for a healthy diet is dependant on your age, sex and physical activity. In other words, it's different for every person. So no wonder folks are confused. Check out these charts on the governments new Choose My Plate website.

After being overwhelmed with the chart, the data and the ifs, ands or buts, the bottom line says it all: Half your plate should be fruits and vegetables.

So do you adhere to these guidelines? Do you care? Let me know in the comments section of this post.

from Heidi and Jon via facebook: Johnathan and I both agree that it should not be the governments' job to tell anyone what to eat. Our plates, now, and we both remember even as kids, were and are, two-thirds vegetable. One meat, two or more veggie. Yum.

Lot of the time, I love veggies. I could become a vegetarian if I wanted too, but I still like meat a bit too much to stop eating it. My son use to HATE veggies. Every night, half his plate is veggies, the other half is split between a whole grain, and a protein.

It's easy to adhere to the guidelines when you're a vegan. You should give it a try. It's easier and more delicious than you think.
