Music matches the mood at Camille's in Key West
Guest Blogger Debbie Moose writes: My husband and I recently spent a week in Key West, running the risk of turning into Those Old People Who Can’t Stand the Cold. I’ve had to stop myself from restating the obvious several times since I returned to mid-30 temps.
On our last night, we dined at a laid-back -- that’s probably redundant in Key West -- neighborhood restaurant called Camille’s. As we sipped our final rum drinks and waited on appetizers (yellowfin carpaccio and shrimp with chipotle cocktail sauce) I noticed the music. It was really familiar. Motown. Pink Floyd. David Bowie.
Camille’s had stolen my college record collection -- song after song from the mid-70s. This inspired my husband and me to start a list of albums we never had to actually purchase as students because everyone else in our dorms owned them.
No. 1 on our list: “Frampton Comes Alive,” by Peter Frampton. This blared out the windows of my dorm for an entire spring.
Runners up: “Rumours” by Fleetwood Mac (party music for a solid year) and “Dark Side of the Moon” by Pink Floyd (late night card playing and illegal beverages, including a memorable encounter with a Pink Lady).
We were a few decades younger for a while. What are your favorite oldies but goodies?

I am going to be in Key West the first weekend of March. Do you recommend Camille’s? What was your favorite restaurant there?
I loved Camille’s when I was there and another favorite was Blue Heaven. Debbie, did you guys get by Blue Heaven while you were there?
Blue Heaven was on our list, but we didn’t get there. Camille’s had nice lunch and dinner food. We had really good seafood at Seven Fish. And good mojitos everywhere!
