Featured Recipe: Hot Fudge Sauce

As cooks and recipe developers we try to be humble. But this Hot Fudge Sauce makes it hard! Here's why:

It's made in the microwave.
Ready in 5 minutes flat.
It uses ordinary ingredients that are easy to keep on hand.
Has an old-fashioned secret ingredient that's become trendy in the past year -- a dash of salt.

You just have to try it to believe it! It's good over just about any dessert -- from vanilla ice cream to bread pudding. This sauce is especially good over our recipe for Dried Cherry Bread Pudding, which will be featured here on Friday. Stay tuned!

I love love love this fudge sauce. For me it is the hint of salt which transforms it and elevates it to the ultimate dessert sauce. I have one more thought on what the sauce is good "on": a spoon headed directly into my mouth!

I always keep some of this sauce in my freezer for "emergencies" which really means for when I need a chocolate fix and yes, I also eat it right from the spoon! When you freeze the sauce it turns a bit grainy, but I sort of like that b/c it reminds me of the fudge at the State Fair in Raleigh. I don't like creamy fudge -- I like the "hard" kind!
