Leftover sauce can be frozen in airtight containers for up to 1 month or refrigerated for up to 4 days.
Crushed Tomato Sauce
1/4 cup olive oil
3 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
2 cans (28 ounces each) crushed tomatoes with juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
In a 3-quart or larger saucepan, heat oil and garlic over medium-high heat until garlic starts to brown. Reduce heat to low. Carefully add tomatoes, salt and pepper. Stir well. Cover and cook on low for 10 minutes or until ready to serve.

I love cheese, so I always add some ground Parmesan and/or Romano cheese to my sauces (it helps to thicken it too). Then I add a healthy pinch of sugar and a teaspoon red wine vinegar for every 24 ounces of sauce. But this is a simple recipe and extra flavors aren't for everyone.
